Why she fights

Line's Story

Line mid-effort on an assault bike at a DEKA race, sweat on her face

At 49, I'm putting on boxing gloves for the first time, training for my first fight through Behind the Gloves, endorsed by WBC Cares UK, while proudly representing Rox Queens. I want to prove that it is never too late to challenge yourself and become stronger.

My body has been through six surgeries, 28 rounds of radiotherapy and years of physical and mental recovery from cancer. Today, at 49, I'm in the best fitness of my life, competing in races, taking on fitness challenges and now preparing for my first boxing match.

"Their strongest chapter may still be ahead of them."

I only started training seriously three years ago. I want women who think they are too old, too unfit or have been through too much to see that their strongest chapter may still be ahead of them.

The cause

Why Rox Queens

I'm fundraising for Rox Queens because this is exactly what we stand for: empowering women and girls to become active, build confidence and take control of their health.

You are never too old and it is never too late to get better.

A note from our founder

Rox Queens

“Line, we are so grateful and so proud that you've chosen to fundraise for The Rox Queens.

What you're doing will go further than you know. Every pound raised helps more women and girls take their first step into hybrid sport, find their people and discover what they're capable of, whatever their age, ability or starting point.

But your biggest gift isn't the money. It's the reminder of how strong we can be, and that anything is possible if you put your mind to it. You're showing every woman who has ever thought ‘it’s too late for me’ that it isn't.

When you step into that ring, you won't be stepping in alone. The whole community at The Rox Queens is behind you.”
